Turn Taking
Turn taking games is an activity we do a lot in Enfys. Taking turns is an important thing for your child to learn to do as can help with language and social skills. Turn taking is a skill that needs to be learnt and practiced. Waiting and turn taking can be difficult for some of our pupils.
Turn taking games is something you can teach your child at home with whatever you are doing. Start by saying whose go it is and taking turns. By using both of your names such as 'mummy's turn', 'Lana's turn' you will make it clearer, opposed to saying 'my turn' and 'your turn'. It is important to keep turns short and motivating to keep your child's attention.
Games at home to try could include:
- Rolling, throwing, kicking a ball to each other
- Blowing bubbles
- Playing with balloons
- Rolling cars
- Using an instrument
- Building Towers
- Putting shapes into shape sorters
- Tap, tap, box
- Imitating each others sounds
